Welcome to the Survival Report. Our goal is to help you survive and prosper in the current treacherous market environment. Our primary concerns are capital preservation and intermediate-term long/short trading opportunities as the US economy continues to rebalance after the busting of the NASDAQ stock bubble. The markets deserve close attention because the speculative NASDAQ bubble has now been replaced by even more ominous bubbles in housing, credit lending, and junk bonds, with complacency running at extremely high levels even though job creation and wages were the weakest ever in a so called "recovery".
Each issue will focus on a number of survival ideas ranging from a broad range of categories including but not limited to treasuries, housing, precious metals, energy, foreign government bonds, currencies, major market indices worldwide, and reader requests. Our goal is not to be bulls or bears, but to look for the best opportunities the market gives us, always giving capital preservation a high priority. Our trading recommendations are based on a proprietary blend of momentum indicators, seasonality, and technical indicators, as well as sentiment and our views of the underlying market fundamentals. When we make a recommendation to buy, sell, or simply stay on the sidelines, we will always tell you what we are doing and why. From time to time we may discuss such concepts as living below your means, geopolitical factors affecting the markets, saving for retirement and other ideas that we feel will be of general interest to those interested in Surviving and prospering during these volatile and uncertain times. We welcome your ideas and feedback. While we cannot engage in individual correspondence, we will from time to time publish select letters of broad interest with answers at that time. We encourage reader participation so please let us know what is of interest to you. If enough people request a topic, we will be happy to do a report on it.
