Recently, Byron's busy travel schedule has included a trip to explore Alaska's oil pipeline and the oil fields in Prudhoe Bay. He also attended the most recent American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) meeting, the 2007 Offshore Technology Conference, and will attend the upcoming Geothermal Finance and Investment Summit.

Previously, Byron's travels have brought him into contact with all the principle players in the top geothermal development projects in North America.

Byron is an honors graduate of Harvard University and holds a degree in geology. After graduating from Harvard, Byron went to work as a geologist in the exploration and production division of the Gulf Oil Company. He has since followed and commented on developments in the oil and gas industry for more than 34 years.

He also served for many years in both the active and reserve components of the United States Navy. While in the sea service, Byron logged over 1,000 hours of flight time in tactical jet aircraft, as well as 128 carrier landings. Among other assignments, he also served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, working as a field historian.

Byron holds advanced degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and the U.S. Naval War College. He is an active member of the AAPG with over 30 years of service to the organization. He has also provided advice on national energy policy to the United States Department of Defense.

He is a practicing attorney in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Byron has focused on litigation, bankruptcy and other oft-contentious matters involving people and money.
