Bill BonnerBill Bonner

Since founding Agora Inc. in 1979, Bill Bonner has found success and garnered camaraderie in numerous communities and industries.  A man of many talents, his entrepreneurial savvy, unique writings, philanthropic undertakings, and preservationist activities have all been recognized and awarded by some of America's most respected authorities.

Bill, the Entrepreneur -

In 1979, Bill created what is now known as Agora Inc.  What began as a small publishing company based in Baltimore, MD has grown to be one of the largest and most successful consumer newsletter publishers in the world.  Operating under the mission of publishing "useful ideas that make people more independent…financially, physically, and intellectually," Agora Inc. is a holding company of various international publishers of financial, health, travel, and special interest books and newsletters, which seek to serve as a modern marketplace for news and breakthrough ideas.  Today, the success of Agora's publications have allowed Bill to open publishing offices in eight different countries within four different continents.  Agora Inc. proudly employs over 1,000 people: from all walks of life, from countless ethnicities and cultures. Bill has received many awards for his business successes, including "Entrepreneur of the Year" as well as Direct  Marketing "Man of the Year."

Bill, the Writer -

Along with Addison Wiggin, his friend and colleague, Bill has written two New York Times Best Selling books: Financial Reckoning Day and Empire of Debt.  Both works were critically acclaimed and internationally distributed.  Since 1999, Bill has also been a daily contributor and the driving force behind The Daily Reckoning.  The Daily Reckoning is a daily, free e-letter that weaves information about the financial world, investing, and everyday life into an educational and entertaining format.  Today, more than 500,000 subscribers read Bill's daily columns.

Bill, the Philanthropist -

Aside from providing reliable and earnest work to over 1,000 employees, Mr. Bonner is also a generous donator to a variety of charities.  His most impressive philanthropic effort was the creation of The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic in southern Nicaragua.  Not long after purchasing and developing a 1,700-acre reserve on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua, Bill discovered the local inhabitants' immediate need for quality, affordable health care.  Bill and his partners began amassing donations and recruiting volunteers, and by 2004 a clinic was built and staffed in hopes of improving local health care and educating indigenous communities.  To this day, the clinic continues to serve and treat more than 1,500 local residents and visitors.

Bill, the Preservationist -

At the core of nearly every one of Bill's ventures lies a sincere desire to preserve our historic and cultural surroundings.  It is no accident that Agora Inc's headquarters in Baltimore, MD is spread across a collection of restored 19th century mansions within the historic Mt. Vernon district. Bill also conducts business in several other historic properties in France, Nicaragua, England, and Ireland, all of which he has restored and preserved with the utmost admiration and reverence to local cultures and customs. All of Agora Inc.'s buildings represent, in architecture, what Agora's companies try to achieve in publishing - a respectful application of more than 2,000 years of evolved wisdom to current issues and situations.  Mr. Bonner has received several awards for his outstanding dedication and leadership within preservationist communities.

Bill has also made historical and cultural preservation a part of Agora Inc.'s day to day business.  Pickering and Chatto, based in London, and Les Belles Lettres, in Paris, are Agora subsidiaries whose purpose is to rescue, translate, and preserve rare and endangered books for the sake of future generation's enlightenment.

Bill, the Father -

Above all, Bill is the proud father of six children.  Today he lives at his home in Paris with his wife, Elizabeth, and the four children still young enough to need their Dad's advice on a daily basis.

Bill Bonner is the author, with Addison Wiggin, of the New York Times Business best sellers:

Financial Reckoning Day: Survivng The Soft Depression of The 21st Century (John Wiley & Sons New York, London)

Empire of Debt: The Rise of an Epic Financial Crisis
(John Wiley & Sons New York, London)
